Weeks 7 & 8

SO nauseous! Even worse than the first time. I can't stand coffee or the smell of anything. Not even diet coke. Ginger ale seems to help. I've also started having insomnia.

ONLY 8 Weeks????

2/17/11 Shock of my life when I went in for my first ultrasound at 10 weeks post conception only to find out that I was only SEVEN weeks along in the pregnancy. Devestating. Ok no, finding out the baby is in distress is devestating. I shouldn't exaggerate like that (the baby is fine). But all I could think about was HOW many more weeks of feeling this miserable?? I was also very proud to step on the scale and find that I weighed less than at this stage in my last pregnancy (which I assumed to be 10 weeks). Well now I know that I am actually 1 lb heavier than my first pregnancy at this stage! AH!

Fast forward a week. I am feeling slightly less nauseous and more like my stomach is just a bubling couldron of upset. I mitigate this by eating constantly---eating anything that doesn't cause acid upchuck. Luckily, chips, crackers, cookies, bagels, cinnamon rolls, ice cream and donuts all sit well (thank goodness for Girl Scouts! lol). I can't WAIT for my next weigh-in. Surely the doctors won't be pleased. I'm hoping my stomach will calm down enough that I can eat healthily without feeling ultra sick.

Headaches are still occurring. I've had one for the past several days---not a migraine, luckily, more like a sinus headache---I think from all the changing weather. I am also super tired but restless all the time. I actually really wish I was asleep right now but I couldn't sleep because I was hungry. I was hungry because I didn't eat a big dinner because I felt sick and was tired. Ahhh another awesome pregnancy cycle. I sure hope these delicious chocolate donuts tide me over until morning! :)

Don't Mention Food

Well nausea is at it's peak (I hope!). I didn't go to work yesterday because I spent the day before trying not to throw up while teaching. Everything except lying down in the dark with my eyes closed makes me feel worse. And the worst part is that I'm not tired. At all. So that makes for a very, very boring day. To make matters worse, for the past two weeks Mishaela has made a habit of waking up at 4am EVERY DAY. I go to bed between 7 and 8pm now but waking up at 4am is still just not for me.

Oh and I don't want to forget to mention the oily hair and skin.

Pregnancy Whoas Already

Oh how I forgot about the headaches and insomnia! Not to mention that the nausea has begun. I'm losing my taste for certain foods and feeling queasy some of the time--which makes it difficult to stomach any tylenol for my headaches. I'm also having some stomach cramping which I don't remember from my first pregnancy but google.com has assured me it's just my growing uterus and normal at this stage of pregnancy. I have also become re-obsessed with the search for the perfect double stroller!

Little Livera Tennakoon #2

Well today we found out we are expecting baby number two! Quite off schedule actually. I was hoping to give birth in May so that I could capitalize on FCPS summer vacation and have three months off. The school district only offers two weeks of paid leave (plus 4 weeks unpaid). Terrible, if you ask me. I can't imagine going back to work with a 6 week old who will undoubtedly still be waking every few hours during the night to nurse. But I guess I will have to! The official ultrasound is February 17th, which is when will find out the exact due date. :)

The eyes were not meant for foreign objects. Period. Not dirt, debris, sand, and especially not contacts. My eyes feel like they are full of sand all the time! And I am still only up to 3 hours :( I can't believe I'm about to say this but come on eye callouses!

Day 3 with my contacts. I wore them while driving and I've gotta say, I was quite overwhelmed by all this vision. For goodness sakes has the sun always been this bright?? Perhaps my diminishing vision was an evolutionary development to help me survive in this visually overwhelming world. Wow! The colors! I mean, it's nice to be able to read a street sign before the second I go whizzing by it but someone get me some super dark sunshades for crying out loud!

The extra good news is that I really am blinking less now, and can somewhat look around without turning my entire head like a muppet.
